My name is Emily, and I am a foodoholic.
Looking back at my childhood photos, I always asked my parents why they did not have any pictures of me without food smothered all over my face. Their answer- it was impossible.
I have loved food since I could remember. While most teens were watching The O.C. or Gossip Girl, I was watching the Food Network. I knew more about Rachel Ray and Giada de Laurentiis, then I did about NSYNC and the Spice Girls. When I learned that I could actually study food in University, I knew my life of eating was meant for something. After many years in school, I now have my BSc in Food, Nutrition, and Health and a MSc in Public Health Nutrition.
What we eat can affect us in a plethora of ways-from providing us essential nutrients to creating that warm comfort of home.
That is what Endive and Indulge is all about: balance. It is unrealistic of any health professional (myself included) to think that everyone is going to eat kale and carrots 24/7. Living should not be about diets and fads, but actually living.
The way I learned to cook and love it was by being inspired by food. My eyes always seem drawn to cookbooks, even when my sagging bookshelf is urging me to stop. The stories weaved inbetween tantalising photos, always leaves me with an excitement for my next meal. I have learned from my mum that following a recipe with a microscope is not cooking for you. Although I may provide recipes with specific measurements, think of it as guidelines. I want my cooking to be an inspiration to you-whether you are feeling nutritious or a dash of wicked, hopefully you will see something you want to try for yourself!
